Visit each of the Mayan Ruins in Belize -then elsewhere

  • Lamanai – This Mayan city is located in northern Belize and was inhabited for over 3,000 years.
  • Altun Ha – Situated near the coast, Altun Ha was a major trading center and is famous for its two large central plazas.
  • Cahal Pech – Located near San Ignacio, Cahal Pech was a residential complex and is one of the oldest Mayan sites in Belize.
  • El Pilar – This Mayan site is located on the border between Belize and Guatemala and is known for its extensive network of trails.
  • Nim Li Punit – Located in the Toledo District, Nim Li Punit was a small Mayan city known for its intricate stone carvings.
  • Lubaantun – This Mayan site is located in the Toledo District and is known for its unique architecture, which includes large stone blocks without the use of mortar.
  • Uxbenka – This Mayan site is located in the southern part of Belize and is known for its well-preserved stelae and ball court.
